Sunday services are shared between Oakengates UC and St. Georges Methodist Church, when worship takes place at 11:00am each week at Oakengates (no morning service at St. Georges) and at St. Georges Methodist Church at 6:00pm each week (no evening services at Oakengates). This arrangement will continue until April 2019. Junior Church takes place Oakengates UC at 11.00am, with separate worship and activities after the initial sharing with the congregation.
Joint services are also held with our partners, which are increasing as the availability of preachers, in particular ministers, becomes more limited. United services are held at Oakengates UC and other churches in the Circuit.
Sunday worship is arranged mainly through the Methodist Circuit plan, which is prepared on a quarterly basis. For special services such as All Age Family Services, Fellowship Sunday and Foundation Sunday, the Church invites Ministers and Lay Preachers to lead the service. These may be from the Methodist Circuit or the United Reformed Church in the area. Local arrangement services are also held, when members of the Church, such as Worship Leaders and Local Preachers contribute to provide worship. The Church has been led by a United Reformed minister, the Reverend James Whately, since January 2013.
The Church has one member who is a Local Preacher – of many years standing – and two Worship Leaders.
